As WWDC 2023 fades into the background, hype for Apple’s next event is building. The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to launch its next iPhone series, the iPhone 15, at its fall event. There have been many leaks and rumors circulating about Apple’s next flagship iPhone series, despite the launch being just over 3 months away.
Reports on everything from the design and camera to its hardware suggest that Apple is planning to make significant changes to the iPhone 15 series, especially the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With so many conflicting rumors circulating, here’s what we currently know about the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Several whistleblowers have hinted that the iPhone 15 Pro Max may feature a curved design and the same has been seen on the leaked dummy units of the smartphone. It could also have curved bezels, according to ShrimpApplePro. The viewing area will remain flat, but the side bezels will be much thinner and contained within the curved area to give a more bezel-less feel, like the display on the Apple Watch Ultra. According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could also get the thinnest bezels of any smartphone out there, at just 1.55mm.
One of the biggest changes to the iPhone in recent years is the inclusion of the USB Type-C port which will replace Apple’s proprietary Lightning port, in compliance with EU regulations. According to a report, Apple may limit charging speeds on third-party chargers and cables, allowing only MFi-certified accessories to take advantage of full charging speeds.
Also, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to have a titanium frame with tactile volume buttons and a mute switch, and the same has been shown in renders of the smartphone. Another leak suggests a new action button, similar to the one found on the Apple Watch Ultra.
Specifications
The iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have the brand new A17 Bionic chipset which may be based on the new 3nm process technology. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have the A17 Bionic. The RAM is also expected to be increased to 8GB.
Leaked benchmark scores for the iPhone 15 Pro Max show how much faster it could be than not only the iPhone 14 Pro Max but also the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The iPhone 15 Pro Max gets a Geekbench 6-reported single-core score of 3019 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra got scores of 2523 and 2000, respectively.
It has also been claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature Wi-Fi 6E, according to a report from MacRumors supported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Cameras
Reports reveal that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to have the same camera system as its predecessor, including the 48MP Sony IMX803 sensor. On the other hand, it reportedly gets a new periscope lens.
According to a report from MacRumors, the periscope camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max may have nearly twice the optical zoom of current iPhones. Just a few weeks ago, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple had chosen parts maker Largan to make the periscope lens for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
MacRumors is now reporting that this new periscope camera, which would be built into the telephoto lens, could offer 5X-6X optical zoom, which is nearly double the 3X zoom offered by the current iPhone 14 Pro Max. ‘iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to reports.

While there have been no substantial price losses on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple may increase the price of iPhone 15 Pro models, widening the gap with the iPhone 15 Plus, according to reports. Apple may raise the price of its flagship model up to $200. According to a report from Forbes, “LeaksApplePro says the iPhone 15 Ultra will have a starting price of $1299 with a $200 increase on the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the largest single generational leap in iPhone history”.
Meanwhile, a report on China’s platform says Apple may raise the price by $100, but only in the US to bring the price up to par with other regions. Going by this rumor, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to have a starting price of $1299 and can potentially go up to $1799 for the 1TB model.
